Operational Process Development & Management: The Harness & Carabiner
The highest quality companies stay focused on the smallest of details.
You work on your business. We work in your business. What does that mean? It means that you and your key leadership team will remain focused on the big picture of the business rather than dealing with the minutiae of your employees and suppliers, each defining and following their own way of working.
You know what you want your business to become. YOU have a vision of how to get there. As the business leader this is not about you being a dictator or telling people what to do. Quite the contrary. Your job is to focus, clarify and communicate that vision and create a strategy. Our job is to define the process for delivering your vision pragmatically, so your employees and suppliers can just run with it based on a structure you define!
Your employees take your plan (which we help you define) and inject their specific skills and personalities. The development of a process allows your employees to focus on results! They don’t have to spend valuable time developing what to do or how to do it – you map it out for them. Their job is to simply do what they do best. They are the stewards of the process, out in the field. They are not “robots” just putting out what you tell them. They are implementing, managing and adding their personal style to showcase the company’s vision.

The Harness & Carabiner™
Name: The Harness & Carabiner™
Purpose: Provide any segment or all of your business with a defined, detailed process of what you want the end result to look like. Achieve reliable results regardless of the style that your sales team, partners or suppliers use.
Intended Result: There are many tangible results gained from a process such as:
- show stakeholders that you are clear on your business, where it’s going and how you’re going to get there;
- give employees confidence that they are in an orderly environment with support and fair, yet purposeful expectations;
- deliver a consistent brand image and message both internally and externally that is based on your company’s values, principles and beliefs;
- provide evidence to your customers that you are committed to their success because you are clearly committed to your own success.
Structure: The chart below defines The Harness & Carabiner system. It starts with the creation of the process, moves into education of the appropriate parties, then implementation or rollout of it within their daily work. Finally an evolution of the system begins (this is a “tweaking” of the system, not a complete “do-over”) because as your business needs change, so too will your process needs.
